Inn It for the Kids III: Supporting Families Impacted by Rare Diseases

Inn_It_for_the_Kids_III_Flyer_LogoWhen tragedy strikes, people rely on the comfort and support of others to help them navigate through the difficult time. That's what The Children's Inn at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) provides to families with children who are suffering from rare diseases, illnesses, and genetic diseases. The Inn is a home away from home for families while children undergo treatment at the NIH. It provides a safe, child-centric environment that offers the comforts of home at no cost to families. This helps alleviate some of the stress that adults encounter to pay for lodging and instead allows families to concentrate their energy on the child's well-being. The Inn is also a place where kids can feel like kids, despite their illness. As their website states, "While the NIH takes care of the child's medical needs, The Inn tends to the child's heart, soul and spirit."

In support of The Inn, Fisher BioServices is one of the proud sponsors of Inn It for the Kids III, a benefit event to raise money in a slightly unconventional way - with heavy metal music and tattoos. The event will include musical performances by the area’s best bands, an opportunity for tattooing, and $5 per ticket raffles of awesome prizes including a guitar, guitar pedals, a keyboard, electronic drums, a 2” tall custom Lego Boba Fett, and much more. The event details are listed below:

When:  Saturday, July 25 2015
Where:  Cafe 611 - 611 North Market St., Frederick, MD
Time:  Doors open at 5PM, Show begins at 6PM

Entry requires a $10 donation and all proceeds will be given to The Children's Inn.

This is the third year that Inn It for the Kids has taken place and each event has been a great success! Last year there were over 150 attendees and we raised $6,800. The money raised contributed to the overall improvement of The Inn; ranging from a new playground being built, XBox and Playstation 4 being purchased, and remodeling kitchens for families. Photos from last year's event can be viewed here.

When their world has been turned upside down, families rely on services like The Children's Inn for help. We hope to see you at this year's event!  Unable to attend but still interested in contributing to a great cause? Donate using the link below and help us reach our goal of $10,000!
